NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test)
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to study any graduate medical course (MBBS, dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India. NEET-UG (Undergraduate), for MBBS and BDS courses, are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which also conducts NEET-SS in partnership with Prometric Testing Pvt Ltd headquartered in the USA. NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves in 2013. However, many colleges and institutes had taken a stay order and conducted private examinations for admission to their MBBS and BDS courses. Last NEET entrance exam(2017) was held on 7th may and results were declared on 23rd May.
Undergraduate courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research JIPMER are outside the NEET’s purview, as these institutes were set up by separate laws.
AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences)
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi, will conduct the entrance exam of AIIMS MBBS on May 27, 2018. Aspirants interested in appearing for the AIIMS MBBS 2018 entrance exam will be able to apply for 707 seats across seven different AIIMS institutions. AIIMS New Delhi will offer 107 seats, while the other AIIMS institutions located in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh will each offer 100 seats. The entrance exam of AIIMS MBBS 2018 will be held in online mode, as a Computer Based Test (CBT) in two slots – morning and evening. Both slots of the exam will take place for a duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes and the AIIMS MBBS 2018 candidates will have to appear as per the slot allotted to them. Along with NEET and JIPMER, AIIMS MBBS is one among India’s three medical entrance exams at the undergraduate level. It is highly competitive, with more than 1.5 lakh candidates expected to apply. The AIIMS MBBS 2018 result will be declared for these candidates on June 12, around two weeks after the exam is conducted. Counselling for these candidates will be conducted in the months of July, August and September, 2018.
